A private well for your home or farm shouldn’t need a lot of maintenance, but it should be professionally inspected on a regular basis. You want to ensure that your drinking water is tested for safety and to help avoid costly repairs in the future. A well that’s properly constructed will prevent contamination from the ground surface, sewage disposal systems, or other hazardous sources that may seep into the well at any time and under any condition.

As a well owner, routine well inspection checks are necessary. Is the casing at least 12 inches above the ground? What is the condition of the well cap? Is it sealed and securely attached? Are all electrical connections secure? Are potential sources of contamination, such as paint, chemicals, fertilizer, motor oil, or livestock operations at least 50 feet away? If any of these signs or others are present, a professional service call appointment should be made.

“Recent flooding in our basement wiped out the washer & dryer, water heater, sump pump, and furnace. Molitor technicians answered our emergency call and just days later, all equipment had been replaced and installed. Great job!”
